Active Schools Week:

Active Schools Week took place for the last 2 weeks. The children had a great few weeks & got to experience so many different sports activities. We are very grateful to Ms Hayes for co-ordinating the week’s events & making it so special for the children. Thanks also to the 6th class boys & girls for coming up with some of the ideas & helping to run the events.

School Tour:

A separate letter will be sent about the tour. Hot School Lunches will not be delivered on the day of the tour.

St Thomas’ club coaching:

Friday 19th of June sees the conclusion of the Club/Schools coaching programme. Thanks to all the club coaches for giving their time over the last number of weeks. The children really enjoyed it & benefitted greatly from the excellent coaching.

Sacraments 2026:

First Holy Communion:

Next year First Holy Communion will be Saturday 24th April.

Confirmation:

The date for Confirmation next year has not been released yet. Confirmation will be for 6th class pupils only next year. This will be confirmed when we return to school in September.

Athletics:

Well done to the kids who took part in the recent Christy Kennedy Athletics tournament. We are grateful to Craughwell N.S. & Craughwell Athletics Club for the invitation. Thanks to Ms Cusack & Ms Flanagan for looking after the team on the day.

Summer Building Work:

We are hoping to get work done on improving the ventilation in the classrooms during the summer. Funding has been secured through Dept. of Education Summer Works Scheme. The work is currently gone out to tender & once this process is complete & a contractor appointed we would hope that this necessary work would be completed before the children return in September.

Parents Council Sponsored Walk:

The Parents council fundraising children’s sponsored walk takes place on Friday 19th of June. Please return the sponsorship cards as soon as possible.

Primary School Survey:

The results of the Primary School Survey conducted earlier in the school year were released recently. I have attached our School Specific Results from the survey. I would like you to have a look at them & we will have a further discussion when school returns in September. Thanks to all who took the time to fill out the Survey.

A word of thanks:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Board of Management who help to manage the school with great interest & support. The Board does great work behind the scenes to improve the school in all areas. Thanks also to our Parents Council who provide great support & assistance every year. Thanks also to our development committee who had a busy year applying for various grants. I want to recognise School secretary Christina for all her hard work throughout the year. Finally, thanks to all the staff in the school the children are so lucky to have such kind & caring teachers & S.N. A’s.

Summer Holidays:

Wednesday 24th June: School closing for Summer holidays at 12:30pm. Buses will run as normal on the day. Hot School Lunches will be coming that day for the 11 O’clock break. School reopens on Tuesday 1st of September.

On behalf of the staff I would like to wish this year’s 6th class students the best of luck in Secondary school. We are very proud of their achievements & it has been our pleasure to teach them for the past 8 years.

We also wish all the children & their families a safe & enjoyable summer. We look forward to seeing you again in September.

Yours sincerely,

Francis O’Connor.
