Dear Parents & Guardians,
I hope you are all keeping well. Please find below a list of recent & upcoming events.
6th Class Trip to Dublin:
The girls & boys in 6th class had a very enjoyable trip to Dublin on Wednesday 11th of March. The children went to Dáil Éireann & the EPIC Emigration Museum. The trip was very kindly organised by Fr Roche for all the 6th class children from the schools in his parishes.
Confirmation:
We would like to congratulate the 6th class girls & boys on making their confirmation on Friday 13th of March. It was a lovely ceremony & the children all did so well with the various jobs they had to do. I would like to thank their class teacher Ms Flanagan for preparing the children so well. Thanks also to Ms Keely & Ms Kelly for preparing the choir & to the children in the choir for singing so beautifully on the day.
6th Class Graduation Ceremony:
This year’s 6th class Graduation Ceremony is Tuesday 23rd of June at 1pm in the school hall.
Engineers Week:
We would like to thank parent Evelyn Fahy for coming to talk to the children from 3rd-6th class on Friday 6th of March. Evelyn very kindly spoke to the children about the work she does in Boston Scientific as part of Engineers week.
World Book Day/Lá Glas:
Well done to the children & parents for making such an effort for World Book Day & Lá Glas recently. There was great excitement in the school on both occasions.
Seachtain na nGaeilge:
We celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge last week. The children from 3rd-6th class went to the astro-turf pitch in Renvyle Oranmore on Thursday to play a hurling & camogie blitz. We had a lovely day & it was so nice to hear the children using Gaelige as they were playing. On Friday we had our annual Ceolchoirm where children from all classes got to display their talents. We had a lovely performance from our school Trad group & I’d like to give a special thanks to Ms Cunningham who has put the group together as part of the Creative Schools initiative.
Creative Schools:
As well as the Trad group put together by Ms Cunningham we also are very lucky to have parent Patricia Gallagher coming to the school to teach the children in 3rd & 4th class the art of weaving. We are very grateful to Patricia for giving her time. There was great fun in the school recently for Crazy Hair Day. The children went to great lengths to be creative with their hairstyles. Thanks again to Ms Flanagan for co-ordinating the Creative Schools Programme in the school.
