Autumn Trial for Junior and Senior infants

in School Events | 0 comments

In October of this year Junior and Senior infants took part in their annual autumn trial around the school and local environment. They began by walking around the school environment, locating different types of trees, autumn leaves, berries, and animals as they went along.

They then proceeded to the old road. Along here children collected leaves of various shapes and colours. They gathered some berries and nuts. They pointed out some parts of the old road e.g. old signs, old lines on the road and noticed what things have changed and what have stayed the same. They also came across a local farmer’s cattle crush and cattle pen and discussed the work of a farmer. Unfortunately the children also noticed some rubbish dumped along the old road and the children devised ways of looking after their local environment. The children were disappointed not to see any of the local leprechauns along the old road but they did spot their bed and some milk cartons they had left lying around the place. Ah well maybe next year!!
