            Policy on Field Trips/School Matches Of Kilchreest National School.         Introductory Statement. The following is a Policy Statement of Kilchreest N.S. formulated following discussion by the school staff in consultation with the Board of Management.   Rationale. A School Policy on Field Trips/School Matches is necessary to provide clear procedures and practices to ensure safe transport of children to extra- curricular activities.   Relationship to Characteristic Spirit of the School. Our school encourages the children to engage in leisure activities and outdoor pursuits and it is important that staff, teachers and pupils are aware of the guidelines associated with this policy.   Aims. To ensure that children are transported safely to extra- curricular activities. To ensure that the guidelines are adhered to. Guidelines: In order to aid/reinforce/expand on delivery of the Revised Curriculum, field trips may be undertaken by pupils of K.N.S. Many Curricular areas benefit from the inclusion of field trips as methodology/approach eg. history, geography, science and PE Some of these trips are carried out in the local environment and when walking K.N.S. ensures there is adequate supervision and rules of road are explained to children. Buses are provided for trips to places where it is not possible to walk. In conjunction with the Parents Association of  Kilchreest it was decided to get buses for all school field trips and matches. Parents could be asked for a contribution to cover the cost of the buses. Success Criteria. The policy will be a success if: Field trips are organised and children are safely brought to and from activities. Children enjoy field trips. Roles and Responsibilities It is the responsibility of the Principal Teacher to ensure that parents/guardians are notified of the terms of this school policy. Class teachers are aware of the guidelines and implement them efficiently. Parents Association – for supervising on some field trips and matches. Timeframe for Review. This policy is to be reviewed at the beginning of each school year. Ratification and Communication. This policy was presented to the Board of Management of K.N.S. and made available to parents after that meeting. Any changes to the policy following a review will be communicated to parents...

Internet Use Policy School Name: Kilchreest National School Address:                     Kilchreest, Co. Galway The aim of this Acceptable Use Policy is to ensure that pupils will benefit from learning opportunities offered by the schools Internet resources in a safe and effective manner.  Internet use and access is considered a school resource and privilege.  There, if the school AUP is not adhered to this privilege will be withdrawn and appropriate sanctions as outlined in the AUP will be imposed. It is envisaged that staff and Board of Management will revise the AUP regularly. Before signing, the AUP should be read carefully to indicate that the conditions of use are accepted and understood. This version of the AUP was created on 3/12/2004 by staff and BOM of Kilchreest N.S. Schools Strategy The school will employ a number of strategies in order to maximise learning opportunities and reduce risks associated with the Internet.  These strategies are as follows: General: Internet sessions will always be supervised by a teacher Filtering software and/or equivalent systems will be used in order to minimise the risk of exposure to inappropriate material The teacher will regularly monitor pupils’ Internet usage (by checking search history) Uploading and downloading of non-approved software will not be permitted Virus protection will be used and updated on a regular basis The use of personal memory keys in school requires a teacher’s permission Students will observe good “netiquette” (ie etiquette on the internet) at all times and will not undertake any actions that may bring the school into disrepute.   World Wide Web. Students will not visit Internet sites that contain obscene, illegal, hateful or otherwise objectionable materials. Students will use the Internet for educational purposes only. Students are not allowed to access their personal social media sites in school. Students will never disclose or publicise personal information.   Students will be aware that any usage, including distributing or receiving information, school-related or personal, may be monitored for unusual activity, security and/or network management reasons. Kilchreest National School Policy on School Tours.   It is the policy of Kilchreest National School to have school tours to places of educational and historic interest alternating with an activity based tour on a 2 year basis. The tour generally takes place every year towards the end of the school year. All children will be given the opportunity to go. The tour generally is within the school day. Tour destinations are on a 4 year basis. Information regarding the tour is communicated to parents in the weeks preceding the tour and deposits are taken. Tour money must be collected in advance. Each teacher is responsible for the collection of his/her class – receipts can be given when requested.  All money is given to school secretary and stored in safe. Pupils are informed that conduct on tours should be the same as that expected on any school day. Safety is emphasised before and during the tour. There is no obligation on any pupil to go on the tour. Teachers will travel with pupils from their own lasses. School tours for both Junior and Senior classes on same day. Contact number will be given to parents in case needed and teachers will bring parents numbers in case they need to be contacted. Seatbelts must be worn on bus. Children are encouraged to bring a healthy lunch and only 2 small treats. No mobile phones or money...
