On returning to school after the Easter the children set about learning all about the weather . They read the book “What ever the weather ” and discovered that certain seasons are associated with certain weather patterns . They recorded the weather each day on the weather diary-. They learned about the suitability of certain types of clothes for different types of weather and carried out an experiment to see what materials are waterproof and which would the best type of material to make a rain jacket from as we need those quiet a lot in Ireland. They wrote a report about hats. They studied the work of a meteorologist and in the play corner they set up a weather station and were busy using the various weather instruments to find out what the weather forecast was going to be before reporting it to the class. In Junk art the children were busy making items for the weather station and cameras for the TV crew. In the sensory area the children had great fun making a splash and rain. With play dough children were making different types clothes for the various weather conditions
