Dear Parents,

I would like to thank you all for your support and cooperation as we have adjusted to our new circumstances since our sudden closure on March 12th. We are very grateful to all parents who have been supporting their children’s learning at home by ensuring that assigned work is completed and sent onto the teachers. Our strong home-school links continue to be forged through communication between teachers and pupils and it is heartening for teachers to see the children going to such great effort to present their written and oral pieces so well.

We are awaiting guidance from the Department of Education on the re-opening of Schools in September. The Minister has recently stated that we should have this road map shortly.
Once it is communicated the planning for the safe re-opening of the school will start.

In the coming days we will be posting out your child’s end of year school report, book lists, details about next year’s book rental scheme, the school calendar and the June newsletter.

To our 6th class students I am very sorry that your last year in Kilchreest N.S. has turned out like this. I am still planning to have your Graduation ceremony on Thursday 25th of June and I will be in touch with you & your parents to finalise the details shortly.

I know I speak for all the teachers when I say that we are all missing school. Please pass on our regards to the children and tell them that of all the things we are missing about school we miss them the most.

Yours sincerely,

Francis O’Connor
Principal
